Katherine Harris forgets to sign ballot

LONGBOAT KEY, Fla., May 9 (UPI) -- Katherine Harris, the former Florida secretary of state in the contested 2000 presidential vote, forgot to sign her absentee ballot for a local election.

The oversignt means that Harris's vote in the Longboat Key election in March was not counted. Some critics -- Democrats who believe Harris gave the 2000 election to George W. Bush and still remember the fights over dimpled and pregnant chads -- might say that has a certain rightness.

Harris, now a Republican congresswoman, told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that she was in a hurry to catch a plane to Washington when she filled out her ballot and gave it to her husband to mail.
