NASHVILLE, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- A day after claiming to be carjacked, kidnapped and held for three days, a Tennessee man admitted he made it all up to cover his drug purchases.

Nathan A. Solomon, 39, told a different story to Nashville Metro police when skeptical detectives poked holes in his account of abduction, the Tennessean reported.

Police said he told them he sold his employer's plumbing equipment to buy some crack.

Tuesday morning, police received an anonymous call reporting a man bound with tape on the ground near the Stones River in Hermitage.

Solomon claimed he had been carjacked at gunpoint Saturday in his Precision Plumbing work truck on Brick Church Pike. He said a hood was placed over his head and that he was held in a warehouse until Tuesday, when he was left near the river.

The plumbing truck was found Monday, but several thousand dollars' worth of plumbing equipment was missing from it.

Police said Solomon later admitted to selling the plumbing equipment at several pawnshops to buy crack with his girlfriend. Both are expected to be charged in connection with the equipment theft and making a false police report.
