LONDON, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A power cut Friday at the Brixton prison in London, England, turned out to be an appetizing distraction for the 30 inmates.

The power cut forced the closure of the prison kitchen, leaving the inmates without an evening meal, reported the London Mirror.

Embarrassed jail chiefs then ordered 24 takeaway pizzas at a cost of nearly $150 from a restaurant. The selection included Sicilianas and Special American Hots.

The delivery man on a moped brought the pizzas to the main gate in about 40 minutes.

Restaurant manager Akbar Mohammadi said, "We thought it was a joke. This was the first time we've ever had an order from a prison."
