CALCUTTA, India, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- India's Calcutta may be able to give Nevada a few tips for dealing with difficult divorce cases.

The Telegraph reports reports Calcutta resident Tapan decided on a different route to divorce court when wife Suparna refused to grant him freedom.

The report says Tapan hired a man and woman to go to the marriage registrar's office, saying they wanted to get married. A month later, they got married. The woman signed on the dotted line as Suparna.

Tapan then went to court and produced papers to show his wife, Suparna, had remarried. He not only got his divorce, he landed Suparna in trouble for marrying a second time without annulling the first union.

State officials say such practices are becoming common, where those involved in a rocky marriage can now hire people for a "proxy" divorce.

The next step in the Tapan-Suparna case remains unclear. But the number of such complaints now tops 80.
