NEW YORK, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A staged punch that was a little too realistic landed an Off Off Broadway actress in the emergency room with a broken nose.
The show, by the way, did go on with the plucky actress waiting until the bitter end to seek medical attention.
The incident happened Friday night at the at P.S. 122 during "Matt and Ben," a comedy about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
According to a New York Times reviewer, the play depicts the two, before their fame, as egomaniac knuckleheads.
In the climactic scene Ben, played by Mindy Kaling, clocks Matt, aka Brenda Withers, in the jaw. Kaling got carried away and accidentally connected solidly.
Withers fell back on the couch in a pool of blood and announced, "I think we need an intermission."
She returned to the stage a few minutes later and finished the play, albeit with a nasal tone, The Times said.
