KALAMAZOO, Mich., July 5 (UPI) -- A crop of billboards promoting "Outhouse Springs" bottled water has fooled some Southwest Michigan residents into believing in the fictional recycled water.

One of the billboards touting Outhouse Springs as "America's first recycled water" reads, "We're No. 1, Not No. 2."

People are finding out, however, Outhouse Springs is not an actual product, but an ad campaign dreamed up for Adam's Outdoor Advertising.

A spokesman for the Atlanta conglomerate told the Kalamazoo Gazette response to the ad campaign has been "tremendous."

In fact, Mike Cannon said they have been fielding calls from people asking to become product distributors. That's despite the product's slogan: "Truly tasteless water."

The billboards can be seen in rural Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as Michigan.

The Gazette said it received a six-pack sample of Outhouse Springs along with a news release written on toilet paper.
