GOLDEN, Colo., July 4 (UPI) -- Being locked accidentally in a bank vault in Golden, Colo., almost caused Ghazal Qureshi to miss the entire Fourth of July weekend.

Qureshi had gone to get some jewelry out of her safe-deposit box at the Commercial Federal Bank in Golden, and was still in the vault when employees apparently forgot her.

After pounding on the door and yelling to get out, she realized there was nobody there, Qureshi told the Denver Post.

Qureshi remembered her cell phone and called 911.

The police, the fire department and a bank employee showed up, but the bank employee couldn't get the vault's timer to release the lock.

Qureshi was told the timer mechanism was behind a glass panel on the inside of the vault door, and she was told to take it off.

The trapped bank customer finally used a heavy pencil sharpener to break the glass. She got out at last at about 7:20 p.m.
