Dogs and owners go for world record SOUTH SHIELDS, England, June 22 (UPI) -- Thousands of dogs and their owners are expected to participate Sunday in Britain's Great North Dog Walk in an attempt to break a world record. The Guinness World Record for the number of dogs walking together was set last year at 3,117 in Texas. For Sunday's attempt at the record, an expected 3,500 dogs will be walked 3.5 miles at South Shields, England. One of the event's organizer told the British Broadcasting Corp. there would be "a lot of pooper-scooping," but the event was organized with responsible dog owners. She added, "Everyone involved is optimistic that they'll beat the record." Advertisement Money raised from the walk will be donated to charity.
