JENNIFER ANISTON TAKES ON REDBOOK

Jennifer Aniston has a bone to pick with Redbook magazine -- not just a bone, more like a whole body -- over her image on the cover. A report in the New York Daily News says the Emmy-winning star of "Friends" complained to Us Weekly a disproportionately big head had been placed on her body for the cover of Redbook's June issue -- and now she feels her whole body was assembled piecemeal for the cover. Aniston's publicist, Steven Huvane, told the News: "The pants and her left hand with the wedding band are from one picture, her right arm, which is thicker and discolored is from another, her head is from a paparazzi shot, her shirt is painted on, they changed her hair." The veteran Hollywood publicist said Redbook compounded the alleged misrepresentation by listing a makeup credit -- "as if she posed for a photo shoot." The News quoted Redbook editor Ellen Kunes saying the image is "100 percent" Aniston. The paper said Aniston is the best-selling cover subject in the magazine business. Huvane told the paper Aniston is considering her legal options -- and has already decided she will not grace the cover of Redbook again.

STARS COME OUT FOR SESAME STREET

Katie Couric will host a 35th anniversary benefit in New York June 4 for Sesame Workshop -- the organization that produces "Sesame Street." Couric will share hosting duties with the poplar "Sesame Street" Muppet character Elmo, and the program will feature performances by Grammy-winning singer Tony Bennett and "Sesame Street's" International Muppets. Also, Emmy-winning actress Glenn Close will present an award to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and his wife, Nane Annan, recognizing their work on behalf of "breaking the relentless cycles of poverty, violence, and deprivation facing children around the world." Organizers called the upcoming celebration "an opportunity for the Workshop to build awareness for our global work and raise funds to support new initiatives to help make a meaningful difference in the lives of children around the world."

HONORS FOR PATTI LABELLE

The National Academy of Popular Music-Songwriters Hall of Fame will present its Lifetime Achievement Award to Patti LaBelle in June. Hall of Fame Chairman-Chief Executive Officer Hal David said this year's Towering Song award will be presented to Tony Bennett's timeless hit "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" -- written by George C. Cory Jr. and Douglass Cross. Bennett also will be recognized for his recording of the song, with the hall's newest honor -- the Towering Performance Award. "The Towering Performance Award has been established to recognize one of a kind performances by one of a kind singers," David said. "For our first presentation of this award, we feel that Tony Bennett is the perfect choice. Tony Bennett is a songwriter's singer, who has recorded outstanding and unforgettable interpretations of many pop songs which have become standards." This year's class of Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees includes Phil Collins, Little Richard, Van Morrison and Queen. Jimmy Webb ("Up, Up and Away," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix") is this year's recipient of the Johnny Mercer Award. Legendary record company executive Clive Davis will receive the Hitmaker Award. The lineup of presenters includes Ray Charles, Berry Gordy, Billy Joel and Wynonna Judd. Legendary music producer Phil Ramone will produce the 34th annual induction and awards dinner on June 12 in New York. The ceremony will be taped for telecast on the Bravo cable network on July 9.

JESSI COLTER SCOUTS RECORDING STUDIOS

Country singer-songwriter Jessi Colter and son Shooter Jennings are mixing business with pleasure on a trip to England this week. The platinum-selling wife of the late Waylon Jennings will celebrate her 56th birthday in London on May 25 -- and while she's there she and Shooter Jennings will check out recording studios for possible future recording dates. A publicist for Colter said the singer has a project in the works with Grammy-winning producer Don Was -- who has worked with such recording artists as the Rolling Stones and Bonnie Raitt. In a statement issued by her publicist, Colter said she has found refuge in songwriting since Waylon Jennings' death in February 2002. "I'm in training so I can continue rockin' with my 23-year-old son," Colter said. The statement also included an observation by Colter's personal trainer, who said that, physically, she is ready to rock: "She has a workout routine that puts the 30-something crowd to shame."

GERALDO'S WEDDING AN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIR?

The New York Post says the guest list for Geraldo Rivera's Aug. 10 wedding includes some key players in Mideast diplomacy. The paper reports chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erkat and Israeli counsel general Alon Pinkus were invited -- along with former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton -- and former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Rivera also invited Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah, paratroopers from the U.S. Army 101st and 82nd Airborne and friends from the networks where he has worked. The 59-year-old TV personality is marrying Erica Levy at New York's Central Synagogue. It's his fifth marriage, but he was quoted in the Washington Post saying it's different because he is being married in the Jewish tradition. "I'm making a conscious decision to take this whole Judaism thing seriously," he said. "I think the Jews need me right now."
