Roman Polanski wins Best Director Oscar

LOS ANGELES, March 23 (UPI) -- Roman Polanski won the Best Director Oscar at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles Sunday for "The Pianist." Polanski, a fugitive from justice in the United States, was not present to accept the award.
