CHILDREN'S TYLENOL BEING RECALLED

Working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, McNeil drugs is recalling two types of children's Tylenol. The products, according to the FDA, include a bubble gum-flavored liquid Tylenol preparation and a grape-flavored liquid.

The company says the products are in 4-ounce bottles and are listed as an "oral suspension." Listed on the bubble gum liquid is the notation: 50580-407-04. The grape liquid in the recall is listed as: 50580-296-04.

The products were made by McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals, based in Fort Washington, Pa.

The problem has nothing to do with the efficacy of the product or its potency or safety. The concern is the measuring cup provided is marked in metric rather than in standard U.S. measurements. This could cause overdosing and create health problems in some children.

The product should be returned to the store from which it was purchased. Nearly 117,000 bottles are involved in the recall notice.

CANNED KALE AND GREENS MAY BE TAINTED

The McCall Farms Co. of Effingham, S.C., is recalling canned kale and greens. The company says it is cooperating with federal health regulators in the recall of nearly 20,000 cases of canned kale and turnip greens packed in 27-ounce cans.

The possibly tainted vegetables are labeled as Glory Foods Kale and Glory Foods Turnip Greens. Concern over the product is based on fears that contamination found in two cans after production had stopped might show up in more of the product.

Consumers who purchased the items can receive a full refund at the place of purchase. McCall can be reached at (800) 277-2012.

The kale and greens have the following serial numbers: GK25/TGLC, GK25/KGLC and GK24/CGLC. The products sold in a wide area of the country, though mainly on the East Coast.
