2003 BLUEGRASS AWARDS ON TV?
The International Bluegrass Music Association awards show may -- for the first time ever -- be televised next year.
IBMA executive director Dan Hays tells CMT.com he's "optimistic" about talks aimed at televising the event will spawn some good news early next year.
The group also is relocating from Owensboro, Ky., to Nashville with a move planned for January.
NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS HONORED
Phillip White and D. Vincent Williams won the Nashville Songwriters Association International song of the year for writing "I'm Movin' On," recorded by Rascal Flatts.
The song, on the trio's debut album, is credited with boosting the popularity of Rascal Flatts, according to the Nashville Tennessean. NSAI members choose the winners.
At the awards ceremony in Nashville Sunday night, folk-rock legend Bob Dylan, cartoonist/writer Shel Silverstein and Dean Dillon -- who wrote several of George Strait's songs -- were inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Troy Verges took Songwriter of the Year honors for having four songs among the top 40 vote-getters and Alan Jackson was named Songwriter/ Artist of the Year.
ELTON JOHN REMAKE ON MCGRAW'S NEW ALBUM
A remake of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" is on Tim McGraw's soon-to-be-released album, "Tim McGraw And The Dancehall Doctors."
McGraw performed the John classic during his concert tour last year with Faith Hill.
He tells LAUNCH, "It was a challenge to record such a well-known, classic song, but I think we did a pretty good job." The song features background vocals from Kim Carnes.
McGraw's new album is due in stores Nov. 26.
