ADD BLUE BOOK SEAL TO YOUR CAR

The folks at the Kelley Blue Book, the publication used to determine the value of used cars, says it now is possible for consumers to use the company's name and official seal when advertising a car for sale. According to Kelley, car sellers can log on to its Web site, kbb.com, find the value of the car they have for sale and then print out a FOR SALE sign bearing Kelley's logo.

Kelley estimates each month more than 10 million people use its listings to help figure out the price of the vehicle they want to sell or buy.

The printed FOR SALE signs will not only have the Kelley logo but also the company's suggested selling price for the car and a box in which the seller can put his or her own amended price.

Kelley started its Blue Book services in the early days of the automobile, in 1926. It currently is based in the Los Angeles suburb of Irvine. Its Web site is, according to J.D. Power and Associates, the most-visited auto sales site in cyberspace.

LOTTERIES OFFERING HIGHER PRICED GAMES

There was a time when the $1 scratch-off ticket was the norm in states where scratch-off gaming tickets were sold. Then the $2 and $3 scratchers entered the game, many of them sports or bingo-themed cards.

Now, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery, the $5 scratcher has arrived. That state says it soon will begin selling a $5 instant game that is Halloween themed. The new Jack O' Lantern Loot game cards debut this week.

More than $2.7 million has been earmarked for this particular game. It offers winners from $31 to $310 in instant winnings, with the overall chances of winning something placed at 1:3.77.

By the way, the Pennsylvania lottery is the only one in the nation to use all of its proceeds to help senior citizens, through special services such as van transportation and in senior centers around the state.
