MUSIC AND MORE PATSY CLINE TRIBUTE ALBUM, TV SPECIAL IN THE WORKS Tributes to Patsy Cline -- an album, a TV special and a remastered greatest hits album -- are in the works as the 70th birthday of the country legend approaches. MCA Nashville executive Mark Wright said songs on the "Remembering Patsy Cline" tribute and her 1967 "Greatest Hits" remaster will appear in the same order. Both albums are due out by the end of the year but release dates are on hold until plans for the TV special are firmed up. Cline, who died in a plane crash in 1963, would have turned 70 on Sept. 8. The tribute features the work of Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Martina McBride, Natalie Cole, Jessi Alexander, Michelle Branch, Amy Grant, Lee Ann Womack, Patty Griffin, Rebecca Lynn Howard, and k.d. lang. Advertisement DIXIE CHICKS TV SPECIAL PLANNED The Dixie Chicks, whose new album "Home" is to be released next week, will perform in a prime-time TV special on NBC in December. The concert special, the trio's first in two years, will be taken from concerts taped in Los Angeles last Thursday and Friday. The show will feature songs from "Home," as well as hits from the Chicks' debut and second albums, "Wide Open Spaces," and "Fly." The "Home" album's debut single, "Long Time Gone," is No. 2 on the Billboard country singles chart after 12 weeks. NEW CASH ALBUM RUNS THE GAMUT On his forthcoming album, "American IV: The Man Comes Around," Johnny Cash covers a lot of territory with his own songs and his interpretations of music by wide range of artists. The 15-track album, set for release Nov. 5, includes Cash's versions of the Beatles' "In My Life," "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" and the Ink Spots' "We'll Meet Again." Don Henley sings a version of the Eagles' "Desperado," Fiona Apple appears on a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and Australian artist Nick Cave sings the Hank Williams hit, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." Advertisement An unreleased live album due out next week comes from a 1969 concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and a tribute album called "Kindred Spirits" is set for release Sept. 24.
