ST. PAUL, Minn., July 10 (UPI) -- A blood clot detected in Gov. Jesse Ventura's lung Tuesday will keep him hospitalized at least for another day, a spokesman said Wednesday.

John Wodele said Ventura would remain at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale on blood-thinning medication "until doctors are sure the clot has been dissolved."

Ventura was admitted to the hospital Tuesday afternoon with chest pains. It was later determined he had a recurrent blood clot, he said.

Wodele said the governor's schedule has been canceled for the remainder of the week.

The professional-wrestler-turned-politician announced last month he would not seek re-election. Ventura was elected in 1998 as an Independent and his tenure has been characterized by his often-stormy relationships with both the Legislature and the media.
