GEORGE JONES AT THE OPRY

Grand Ole Opry member George Jones has been added to the Opry line up for Oct. 13 as the Opry continues its "Homecoming Month" and celebrates its 76th birthday. Jones will perform on the first show only Saturday evening as part of "Grand Ole Opry Live" on CMT.


JUDD NAMED HONORARY CHAIRWOMAN

Naomi Judd has been named honorary chairwoman of an effort to build a freestanding hospice facility, the first of its kind, in her native Kentucky. Judd is originally from Ashland. The campaign to raise $1.5 million to begin the project will start in November.


OPRY ON THE CHARTS

Martina McBride debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country charts this week with her new album, "Greatest Hits." The "O' Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack featuring Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, The Whites and Ralph Stanley moves to No. 2 after 42 weeks on the charts. Alison Krauss & Union Station check in at the No. 6 spot with their new album, "New Favorite." Alan Jackson is at No. 15 with "When Somebody Loves You" and Travis Tritt's "Down The Road I Go" is at No. 19.

Alan Jackson takes the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Country singles charts with "Where I Come From." Trisha Yearwood's "I Would've Loved You Anyway" holds steady at No. 4. Travis Tritt checks in at No. 10 with "Love of a Woman" and Reba McEntire's "I'm A Survivor" is at No. 12. At No. 13 is Martina McBride with "When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues."


RANDY TRAVIS RECORDS PATRIOTIC SINGLE

Opry member Randy Travis will release a new patriotic single this week titled "America Will Always Stand." Written by Travis, Mike Curtis, Yvonne Sanson, Becky Bluefield and Doc Walley, the single will be released on Relentless Records. All individuals involved in the project donated their time and talent and all proceeds from the sale of the single will benefit the American Red Cross.
