VAN2000063002 - 30 JUNE 2000 - VANCOUVER, B.C. CANADA: Standing to the left of 'Super Barrio', opposition leader Cuauhtemoc Cardenas heads a massive peaceful protest against election fraud at the Alamada on Avenue Juarez, Mexico City on December 1, 1988, during President Salinas Gotari's Inauguration. Months earlier ballot counting was halted allegedly due to computer glitches as Cardenas took an early lead in Mexican presidential elections; several days later PRI candidate Salinas Gotari won by the slightest of margins. Cuautemoc Cardenas is now one of the leading candidates in Mexico's upcoming election. mc/hr/H Ruckemann UPI File Photo
