Umpire Jim Joyce helps save life at ballpark
Umpire Jim Joyce works a game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on August 19, 2012. Joyce, working a game at Phoenix's Chase Field on August 20, 2012 was heading to the umpire's dressing room when he saw a stadium employee begin to shake and collapse to the ground. Joyce began performing CPR on the woman. While Joyce was performing CPR, Marlins bullpen coach Jeffrey Urgelles arrived to help. Urgelles was a firefighter and paramedic in Florida. A first-responder arrived with an automatic external defibrillator (AED), while Joyce continued CPR. The woman, Jayne Powers, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where she regained consciousness.
