LAP97061801-18 JUNE 1997-LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA: As a statue of General Douglas MacArthur looms in the background, Filipino World War II veterans continue June 18 to protest against what they say is the federal government's broken promise to give them the same benefits afforded other U.S. veterans. The protest, now in its fifth day began Saturday, following a Flag Day ceremony where several protestors chained themselves to the statue of MacArthur. UPI jr/JIm Ruymen
