After leaving Georgetown Hospital in Washington where his son’s right leg was amputated above the knee in an operation for cancer, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy escorts his niece, Kathleen Kennedy, eldest child of his assassinated brother Robert, into Holy Trinity Catholic Church on November 17, 1973 where she will be married to David Lee Townsend.
