Anti-presidential protests in Kiev

UKR2002091610 - KIEV, Ukraine, September 16 (UPI) -- Thousands of opposition supporters waving red flags and banners with anti-presidential writings, and chanting anti-presidential slogans, take part in a protest to demand the ouster of embattled President Leonid Kuchma in downtown Kiev, Ukraine, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002. The protests are timed to mark the second anniversary of the disappearance of opposition journalist Heorhiy Gongadze that caused months of protests against Ukraine's president Kuchma, whom opposition leaders accused of involvement in the killing. jaf/ss/Sergei Svetlitsky UPI
