National Geographic Kids Magazine sets shoe chain world record in Washington

Stuart E. F. Claxton, Guinness World Records' judge, speaks during a National Geographic Kids Magazine event to set the Guinness World Record for the world's longest chain of shoes, 10,512, at the National Geographic Headquarters in Washington on July 2, 2008. Following the event, the shoes will be shipped to Nike's Reuse-a-Shoe program, which will recycle the sneakers into material that will be used to build athletic surfaces such as basketball courts, soccer fields and playgrounds.
