President Barack Obama awards the Medal of Honor to U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ty M Carter during a ceremony at the White House in Washington on August 26, 2013. Carter is receiving the medal for his courageous actions and selfless service while rescuing a comrade while serving in Afghanistan.
