Experts say Gateway Arch is not rusting just dirty
Runners exercise up the stairs to the base of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis on September 25, 2012. A new report says stains on the Arch are caused by the welds that were made when the 630-foot monument was built in 1965 and not rust. The stains visible on the surface are cosmetic according to the report by engineering firm Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, in Chicago. Officials are now trying to determine how the Arch can be cleaned. UPI/Bill Greenblatt
