Eternal Light Peace Memorial in Gettysburg

Eternal Light Peace Memorial in Gettysburg

Pictured is the Eternal Light Peace Memorial in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, dedicated by President Roosevelt in July 1938. Its gas flame burned almost continuously for 35 years until the energy crisis forced the National Park Service to snuff it out in 1973. The light will burn again, after ceremonies on July 1, 1978.
