LIBRARY OF CONGRESS EXHIBITS WHITMAN ARTIFACTS

A letter from Ralph Waldo Emmerson to Walt Whitman is on display as part of the Library of Congress' exhibition on Whitman, "Revising Himself," on May 16, 2005, in Washington. The Southwest Gallery of the Jefferson Building houses the exhibit through December 3 as part of the 150th anniversary celebration of Whitman's "Leaves of Grass." The letter helped "Leaves of Grass" gain acceptance in the literary world. (UPI Photo/Roger L. Wollenberg)
