The foundation was created to provide athletic and educational opportunities to the children of East Los Angeles at the Oscar De la Hoya Youth Center, located on the site of the former Resurrection Gym, where the Academy Award-winning motion picture "Rocky" was filmed and where De La Hoya trained for his 1992 Olympic Gold Medal victory.
