The City of St. Louis issued marriage licenses to four same sex couples, a challenge to Missouri's ban on gay marriage. Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster who supports gay marriage , said that he will defend the state constitutional ban against it, filing a lawsuit preventing the city from issuing any more same sex marriage licences until the issue is resolved in the courts.
