Illinois announces High Speed rail project

A freight train speeds by the small Amtrak station in Alton, Illinois on January 29, 2010,where state officials announced a $1.2 billion federal award that will bring high speed passenger service to the state of Illinois by 2014. Illinois is among only three states to receive atleast $1 billion for high speed rail service which will travel between Chicago and St. Louis. UPI/Bill Greenblatt
