Oil containment boom, front right, protects the Northrop Grumman Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, July 14, 2010. BP continued its efforts to stem the flow of oil from its Deepwater Horizon rig in the Gulf of Mexico, which exploded and sank in April. Meanwhile, Northrop Grumman announced its intention to close a shipyard in Avondale, Louisiana, by 2013, and to consolidate operations at this shipyard in Pascagoula. The announcement was bad news for Louisiana, whose tourism and commercial fishing industries have been hit hard by the spill. UPI / A.J. Sisco.
