THICK-BILLED PARROT
Two Thick-Billed parrots play in their new outdoor exhibit at the World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park, Mo on June 16, 2004. The Thick-Billed Parrot is the only remaining parrot species indigenous to the United States which is now extinct in the wild. The World Bird Sanctuary has the last remaining flock of these birds taken from the wild by poachers. Unable to be returned to the wild due to injuries sustained during capture, these five remaining pairs have be placed in the new flight cage. UUPI Photo/Bill Greenblatt)
