Hurrican Gustav hits New Orleans
Members of the Louisiana National Guard set up a road block in the upper 9th Ward of New Orleans as water in the Industrial Canal starts to overtop the levees and pour into the city on Sept. 1, 2008. Hurricane Gustav made landfall 72 miles southwest of New Orleans Monday morning sparing most of the city. Gustav caused flooding in parts of the low-lying parishes and put a strain on the cities level system. (UPI Photo/Michael L. Owens/US Army)
