Citigroup announces that it will pay back $20 billion to government
Citigroup will be repaying the government some $20 billion in bailout money it announced on Monday December 14, 2009. The government will also sell its stake in the company within the next year, accounting for another $25 billion. The photo shows flags of the United States and Citibank waving in the wind outside of the Citigroup headquarters in New York City on November 24, 2008, when it was announced that government would loan money to Citigroup.
