Eruption of Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano Triggers Evacuations
View released on May 22, 2018, of spatter and splashing build ramparts around Fissure 22, in Kilauea Volcano's lower East Rift Zone. A moderate-level eruption of lava continues along the northeast end of the active fissure system. As a result, volcanic gas emissions have tripled from Fissure 20 resulting in elevated to higher levels of Sulfur dioxide throughout the area downwind of the vents. Photo by USGS/UPI
