Basketball star Wilt Chamberlain (R) threw a knockout punch into a proposed heavyweight fight between himself and former champion Muhammad Ali (L) April 2, 1971. Chamberlain demanded a tax free guarantee of $50,000. Chamberlain, who was supposed to make his professional boxing debut at the Astrodome July 26, 1971 had originally agreed to fight for $500,000 or 25% of the gross reciepts, but decided a few minutes before the contract signing ceremony that he wanted the sum after taxes.
