MARINES CONDUCT EXCERCISES IN ARABIAN GULF
U.S. Marines assigned to 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC) depart the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) onto Landing Craft Utility 1654 (LCU 1654) in the arabian Gulf on March 28, 2004. The Landing Craft is assigned to the amphibious transport ship USS Shreveport (LPD 12). The Marines are off-loading in support of their mission in the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR). Wasp, Shreveport and 22nd MEU (SOC) are currently on deployment as part of Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG 2). .(UPI Photo/Keith Simmons/U.S. Navy)
