SAND STORM IN BEIJING
A murky yellow sky hangs over downtown Beijing as strong gusts of wind and sand continue to blast Beijing on April 19, 2006. The sand storm struck the Chinese capital for the third day, covering homes, streets and cars in brown, yellowish dust and leaving the skies an eerie orange. Desertification of the country's west and Mongolian steppes has made the spring sand storms worse in recent years, reaching as far away as South Korea and Japan. (UPI Photo/Stephen Shaver)
