Effects of Gulf oil spill on wildlife (27 images)



A containment boom is staged at the Breton National Wildlife Refuge in Venice, Louisiana on April 29, 2010. As of April 30, 2010, over 217,000 feet of containment boom is used to help minimize the impact on environmentally sensitive areas. Efforts to stop the flow of oil and minimize the impact to environmental and economic resources has been underway since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded on April 20, 2010.
