Voters in the North African country of Tunisia went to the polls Sunday in their first free and democratic election.
A Tunisian men casts his vote on October 23, 2011, at Tunisia, formed snaking queues in the sun to vote in their first free elections Sunday, basking in their status as democratic trail-blazers nine months after ousting a dictator and giving birth to the Arab Spring. Polling stations started closing at 07.00 pm (1800 GMT), but election officials allowed people still queuing by the cutoff to stay and cast their historic ballots.. UPI\Hichem Borni
