A police officer in independent, Mo. thought he was killing an alligator on the loose, but discovered he had shot a life-size concrete lawn ornament. The police department apologized to Rick Sheridan, the cement-gator owner. Sheridan said he heard a gunfire when he was working in his garage and went out to investigate, discovering several police officers with their guns out.
