Tai Shan, born at The National Zoo in 2005, is leaving for China today, February 4th, as part of the agreement between the United States and China. There are 14 pandas on loan from China in U.S. zoos.

A FedEx Express 777 Freighter airplane, carrying Tai Shan, a 4 year old male giant panda, takes off from Dulles Airport in Dulles, Virginia on February 4, 2010. Tai Shan and another 3 year old female panda, Mei Lan, from the Atlanta Zoo, will be transported on the "FedEx Panda Express" to Chengdu, China to join the country's breeding and conservation program.
