Leslie Nielsen, who began his career as a straight-faced dramatic actor and ended up being a standby of film parodies from "Airplane!" to "Naked Gun" died at the age of 84 as a result of complications from pneumonia.

Prolific Italian film producer Dino De Laurentiis has died at his Beverly Hills, Calif., home, his family said. He was 91. Among the more than 500 film credits De Laurentiis amassed during his 70-year career are "La Strada," "Battle of the Bulge," "Barbarella," "Serpico," "Death Wish," "War and Peace," "Blue Velvet," "Dune" and several "Halloween," "Amityville Horror" and "Silence of the Lambs" sequels. George "Sparky" Anderson, the first manager to win World Series titles in the American and National Leagues, died at age 76 on November 4, 2010, at his home in Thousand Oaks, California. Anderson managed 26 years with the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers. He is seen at the National Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies in Cooperstown, N.Y. on July 28, 2002.
