Authorities in suburban London said Robert Knox, 18, died while attempting to protect his 16-year-old younger brother after two men, one armed with a pair of knives, entered the bar and a fight broke out, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The incident happened not far from where Knox's well-known rugby club teammate Jimmy Mizen was murdered and happened only a few yards from Mizen's family's shoe shop, the newspaper said, adding that a 21-year-old man has been arrested in the incident.
Family and friends in Sudcup, 11 miles southeast of central London, left flowers on the street for Knox Saturday. He lived in Swanley, Kent, and was formerly a student at Hurstmere School in Sidcup, the Telegraph said.
