Officials arrested Nosratollah Tajik in November 2006 when he allegedly tried to buy night vision goggles from undercover FBI agents.
The British High Court in April upheld a ruling that would turn Tajik over to authorities in the United States. His lawyers launched an appeal, sending the case to the European Court of Human Rights, the Iranian Press TV said Wednesday.
"Now, the European Court of Human Rights must give its verdict on whether the extradition of the Tajik to the U.S. is in accordance with international human rights treaties and standards," said an anonymous source to Press TV.
The legal counsel for Tajik said he was a victim of entrapment perpetrated by the FBI. They point out he has no prior criminal record.
