SAN JOSE, Calif., May 15 (UPI) -- An injured man spent three days trapped in a sport utility vehicle obscured by thick brush 20 feet from a busy California highway.

Duc Vinh Do crashed Saturday on I-680 in North San Jose, the San Jose Mercury News reported. He was finally able to reach his cell phone, which was in the back seat, Tuesday afternoon.

Once Do had called 911, finding him was a difficulty. A 911 operator was able to get his general location by triangulating the signal from his cell phone off towers in the area.

Police tried driving up and down the highway sounding their sirens, asking Do to tell operators when he could hear them. Eventually, a helicopter located the SUV.

Do crashed Saturday night while driving home from an evening in San Jose. He survived for three days on nothing but two bottles of water.

He was in an intensive care unit Wednesday.
