ANKARA, Turkey, May 2 (UPI) --
Turkish warplanes flew into northern Iraq Friday on a raid of suspected bases of Kurdish rebels, officials said.
The strikes targeted bases of the Workers Party of Kurdistan, also known as PKK, in mountainous areas along the Iraq-Turkey border, reported KUNA, the Kuwaiti news agency.
Friday's raid was the latest by the Turkish army against the rebel group, which advocates establishing a separate Kurdish state. The Turkish air force last week engaged in several strike on suspected PKK bases.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department.
