A jury Monday convicted Olga Rutterschmidt, 77, in the deaths of two men whom the women had allegedly insured for nearly $3 million and then run over in what authorities said were staged hit-and-run accidents.
The same jurors last week convicted 77-year-old Helen Golay on the same charges stemming from the deaths of Paul Vados in 1999 and Kenneth McDavid in 2005.
Los Angeles police reportedly got wind of the scheme when a third homeless man became suspicious after the women took him in and began taking out an $800,000 policy on his life.
Golay's lawyer, Roger Jon Diamond, told the Los Angeles Times the appeal would likely focus on whether a surveillance tape of the defendants discussing the case was obtained improperly.
The two women were convicted on largely circumstantial evidence, the Times said.
