McCain prepares 'Service to America' tour

WASHINGTON, March 28 (UPI) -- Republican presidential nominee hopeful Sen. John McCain is set to embark on a "biography tour" next week to inform voters of his background and campaign image.

McCain, R-Ariz., said in a fundraising notice that he will spend time at military bases and schools "that have played a significant role in shaping who I am today."

"We do not take it for granted that people know his background," McCain senior campaign adviser Charles Black said.

The main purpose of the tour is to secure an impression of McCain in the minds of voters before the opposing party beats him to it, USA Today reported.

McCain's "Service to America" tour is expected to stop in Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va.; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; military installations in Mississippi and Florida; and his political headquarters in Arizona.
