Police investigate N.C. suicide pact

MONROE, N.C., March 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in North Carolina are investigating the death of a woman in what was described as a suicide pact gone awry.
Monroe Police Chief Debra Duncan, who was the first law enforcement to arrive at the scene, said Deborah McCord Gibson, 45, was found dead in a bedroom, while her daughter Jennifer McCord, 23, was found inside the garage with a gunshot wound.
The Charlotte Observer reported that Linda Maples, 26, was also found shot.
Duncan said one of the survivors described the shooting as a suicide pact, the newspaper reported.
"It's always when you think you've seen it all, then something like this happens," Duncan told WCNC-TV, according to the newspaper. "This was a suicide pact gone awry. Everybody shot somebody."
Gibson, McCord and Maples were under investigation for fraudulent prescriptions, police said.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing and police said charges are pending against McCord and Maples.
