Residents asked to look for wing panel

PHILADELPHIA, March 24 (UPI) -- Residents of two Maryland counties have been asked to look for a panel of a U.S. Airways wing that fell to the ground during the weekend.

Flight 1250, traveling from Orlando, Fla., to Philadelphia, had 174 passengers and a crew of six aboard when the panel from the top of the left wing blew off, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Monday. Passengers said the debris struck and cracked a window.

U.S. Airways spokesman Philip Gee said the airline will investigate and has asked that residents in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties watch out for the missing panel, Aero-News.net reported.

"We take this incident very seriously and are grateful no one was injured and that the flight reached its destination," Gee said.

The FAA also will look into the matter.

The plane continued without incident its flight to Philadelphia, where it was grounded.
